Don’t Worry About It” Isn’t Good Enough, TPMS Done Properly

The Problem

A customer recently came to us with a tyre pressure warning light showing on their dashboard. They’d already been told elsewhere not to worry about it - that the car would still pass an MOT, and that TPMS (Tyre Pressure Monitoring Systems) weren’t really that important anyway 🤯 Let us tell you, they are.. and they are a part of your safety system!

That didn’t sit right with us.

TPMS systems are there for a reason. They’re designed to alert you to under-inflated tyres, which can mean you have a serious issue with your tyre, the one thing that keeps you connected to the road! affecting braking, handling, fuel economy and tyre wear. Ignoring a warning light might be convenient, but it isn’t good practice.

What We Found

To diagnose the issue properly, we slightly deflated each tyre and marked them individually so we could confirm which sensors were communicating with the vehicle.

Initially, we expected to find a faulty TPMS sensor. Instead, we discovered something worse.

One of the TPMS sensors was completely missing.

Not damaged. Not faulty. Just not there.

We genuinely couldn’t believe the vehicle had been sent back out on the road like this.

Fixing the Problem the Right Way

There’s only one way to deal with something like that... properly.

We:

  • Supplied and fitted a brand new TPMS sensor

  • Correctly inflated all tyres to manufacturer specifications

  • Torqued the wheels to the correct settings

  • Properly coded and programmed the sensor to the vehicle

The result?
No warning light.
No guesswork.
No corners cut.

Just a safe, correctly functioning system doing exactly what it’s supposed to do.

Why This Matters

It’s easy to dismiss warning lights or say “it’ll be fine”. But that approach puts drivers in a position they should never be in - unsure whether their car is actually safe.

At Gorse Motors, we believe:

  • If something isn’t right, it should be investigated

  • If a fault exists, it should be fixed correctly

  • If a job’s done, it should be done once, and done properly

We’re always here to help, and we won’t send a vehicle out knowing something has been ignored or bypassed.

If you’ve got any type of warning light of something doesn't feel right to you, or you’re just not convinced a previous repair was handled properly, bring it to us. We’ll check it, explain it, and fix it the way it should be done.
